SNOW EMERGENCY
The purpose of a snow emergency declaration is to ensure that snow plows can safely remove snow from Borough streets curb-to-curb so emergency vehicles, mail and trash trucks, and other vehicles are not impeded.
STREET PARKING
PennDOT plows all state roads, which include RT 413 /Pine Street, RT 213 Maple Avenue, Bellevue Avenue, Richardson Avenue, andWinchester Avenue. All other Borough roads are plowed by the Borough’s snow removal company.
To contact PennDOT with road concerns or complaints call 1-800-FIX-ROAD or visit pa.gov/penndot
During a snow emergency, all vehicles must be off State and Borough streets until 24 hours after the snow has stopped falling or the Mayor removes the snow emergency. Any vehicle that is not moved may be towed and the owner may be required to pay a fine.
SIDEWALK CLEARING AND PLOWING
It is the responsibility of all property owners, tenants, and occupants to clear their sidewalks of snow and ice within 24 hours after snowfall has stopped. You may be subject to a fine if your sidewalk is not in compliance.
PLEASE DO NOT plow, shovel, blow, or push snow from driveways or sidewalks into roadways. Snow should be kept within the homeowner’s property limits.
PLEASE DO NOT leave trash and recycle cans in roadways or near curb areas as snow from the plow may dump or damage the container.
PLEASE DO help and check on your elderly neighbors.
PLEASE DO help to insure that public fire protection is maintained by shoveling snow away from fire hydrants located on or near your property.
