Role of the Planning Commission

The Langhorne Borough Planning Commission is an advisory body of residents who assist Borough Council in matters of land use and development. The commission plays an important role in shaping our community and fostering communication between residents and elected officials. Its members review land development applications, help craft and amend the Zoning Map and Ordinance, and make recommendations to Borough Council on ongoing projects.

The final copy of the Comprehensive Plan, drafted with assistance from the Planning Commission, is available by the link below:

Langhorne Borough Comprehensive Plan 2014

2035 Comprehensive Plan Update

The 2014 Comprehensive Plan, created by Borough Council and our Planning Commission, is a framework that guides zoning and land use decisions in the Borough, encouraging economic growth while protecting the environment and preserving the Borough’s history and long-held community values. This plan has guided the Borough for more than ten years, and in order to chart a path through the next decade, the Planning Commission’s Comprehensive Plan Update Committee is reviewing and revising the plan.

Feedback from the community is critical to the establishment of an effective Comprehensive Plan, and the Planning Commission will hold three Vision Sessions to engage our residents and hear what they love most about our Borough and their own visions for its future. Information about these Vision Sessions will be shared on the Borough website, social media, and monthly newsletters.
