ARBOR DAY 2026

Thank you to all who attended the Borough’s Arbor Day celebration on April 30th! It was a pleasure to share this celebration of the Borough’s greenery and history with you. A white oak tree was planted at the Revolutionary War Cemetery, which will commemorate our country’s revolutionary history and the Borough’s part in it for decades, even centuries to come. We hope this beautiful new tree will be enjoyed by all.

Almost 250 years ago, on January 4th, 1777, General George Washington ordered that a hospital be established in Langhorne, known at the time as Four Lanes End, to treat wounded American soldiers. The deceased soldiers, who had been treated at what is now the Middletown Friends Meetinghouse and the Hicks House, were buried at this cemetery.

Special thanks to our Shade Tree Commission for organizing this wonderful community event, Ethan Transue of Transue Tree Service for donating and planting the white oak tree, and Karen Floyd of Artful Treasures for holding a great wildflower seed ball crafting even for children and families!
